Scott Tanner is a managing partner and the financial treasurer at Joe Tanner Associates, Inc. (JTA.) He has over 20 years of governmental affairs experience plus another ten years in the private sector. His exposure to both business and government provide a dual perspective of corporate and governmental infrastructures that better serves his clients. Not only does he know the corporate side of business, he also understands the stresses and demands of operating a private company to its maximum productivity in a world that is becoming increasingly regulated. Scott’s expertise in research, product development and strategy helps his clients maintain an edge in today's dynamic marketplace.

Scott consistently ranks among the top lobbyists in Georgia according to (the James Magazine, targeting to the politics and governmental affairs industry) annual lobbying reports. His local, state and national clients cover a broad range of interests including heath care, economic development, environmental planning and management, fund-raising, and historic preservation.

While at JTA, Scott has worked on the successful passage of many bills including two constitutional amendments. Recent legislative accomplishments include bills to increase competitiveness and transparency in local government bidding, updates to Georgia’s shoreline protection act, boat titling and expanding hunting opportunities. His private sector background coupled with years of governmental affairs experience gives him the expertise to help his clients with government contracts and procurements.

Tanner, a Georgia native, holds a bachelor of business administration in business management from the University of West Georgia. He serves on several committees and organizations for the State, and is recognized as an ambassador and leader in wildlife conservation efforts. He founded the Georgia Legislatives Sportsmen’s Caucus 2002, and remains the executive director. In 2018, he was awarded a commendation from Governor Nathan Deal for his ongoing commitment to raising awareness for wildlife sports in Georgia through his annual Sportsmen’s and Coastal Day event at the Capitol for the last 17 years. Scott was the President, and continues to be an active board member of the Georgia Prescribed Fire Council. He is also a board member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

In his leisure, Scott spends his time educating and encouraging hunting enthusiasts, often hosting quail and deer hunting on his family’s property, and squirrel hunting with his mountain feist. He also enjoys time at home and exploring the great wilderness with his wife, who is also an avid nature enthusiast.
