Clelia Keen, senior associate at Joe Tanner and Associates (JTA), brings 20 years of experience in community relations, political operations, and public policy. Prior to joining JTA, she worked in government and community affairs for Georgia State University (GSU), which has five campuses and a multi-county footprint and is the largest university in the state. In this role, Keen built and developed relationships with external stakeholders, such as local chambers of commerce, small and large businesses, and elected officials. She identified not only workforce development opportunities for students and industry, but also strategic development opportunities for the university.
Keen also spent several years in the Georgia House of Representative, serving in communications, political operations, and staff management roles. As chief of staff to the speaker and the majority leader, Clelia promoted and worked toward the passage of the House leadership’s legislative agenda and counseled members on political strategy and policy positions.
Clelia also served as political director for the Georgia House Republican Caucus and was responsible for coordinating 50-plus legislative campaigns to maintain majority status. She advised candidates and consultants on how to effectively message and administer their campaigns, and also developed, approved and scheduled polling, direct mail campaigns, cable and radio advertising.
<pKeen’s political and communications experience also includes serving as communications director for the Georgia Republican Party, several years with the Republican Governors Association and time in both the Florida and Washington, D.C. offices of Governor Jeb Bush.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Auburn University.
